In recent years, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, China has made great achievements in disaster prevention, mitigation and relief, accumulated valuable experience in dealing with major natural disasters, and significantly improved the country’s comprehensive disaster reduction capacity. However, it should also be noted that the situation of natural disasters in China is still complicated and severe, the current system and mechanism of disaster prevention, mitigation and relief need to be improved, the sharing of disaster information and the overall planning of disaster prevention, mitigation and relief resources are insufficient, the idea of attaching importance to disaster relief and neglecting disaster reduction is still relatively common, the situation of high-risk cities and unguarded rural areas in some places has not been fundamentally changed, the role of social forces and market mechanisms has not been fully exerted, and the publicity and education on disaster prevention and mitigation is not popular enough.
